==Legacy== Baldwin's influence on American literature and culture is immeasurable. He is studied widely in universities and continues to inspire generations of writers, activists, and artists. His work gained renewed public attention in the 2010s, with the release of Raoul Peck's acclaimed documentary ''I Am Not Your Negro'' (2016), based on Baldwin's unfinished manuscript about the deaths of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Barry Jenkins's 2018 film adaptation of ''[[If Beale Street Could Talk]]'' further introduced Baldwin's fiction to new audiences, winning multiple Academy Awards. His essays β particularly ''The Fire Next Time'' β have been repeatedly cited as essential reading in discussions of systemic racism, police brutality, and racial justice in America.
